<p>PURPOSE:To rapidly copy a magnetic tape without increasing the rotational frequency of a rotary drum by arranging (n) pieces of heads on the periphery of the drum at equal angles and traveling the tape at (n-1) times as much as the normal speed to abut the (n) pieces of heads upon the adjacent track of the tape. CONSTITUTION:An original tape and a copied tape are shown by 20 and 22, respective electromagnetic converter 24, 26 are arranged in the axial direction of the drum 10 and respective head A-D are fixed on the face including the rotary shaft at 90 deg. peripheral direction. The drum 10 is inclined by theta0 from the tape 16. When the tape speed is increased up to three times, the moving direction of the head from the tape 16 is theta+psi increasing psi from the normal speed theta. When the loading angle to the drum 10 is set up to theta0-psi, the drum 10 is abutted upon the tapes 20, 22 with an angle theta at the time of three times the tape speed, and four heads A-D are successively abutted on the adjacent, tracks because of three times speed. Said constitution makes it possible to increase the number of heads constituting respective electromagnetic converters for recording and reproducing and to execute double speed dubbing by a number smaller than the number of heads by '1'.</p> |
