PURPOSE:To obtain excellent electromagnetic conversion characteristics reduced at its dispersion by shifting a slicing direction of a pair of core blocks fused with glass and the track width regulating groove forming direction of both the core block with the inclination of a required angle. CONSTITUTION:The track width regulating grooves 6, 11 from the front to the back side are formed on the butting face of a pair of core blocks 21, 22 and then both the core blocks 21, 22 are fused with glass to form a recording/ reproducing head element part 1. An erasing head element part 2 is similarly formed, both the element parts 1, 2 are joined and sliced to form a front core 30 and the front core is joined with a back core to form a magnetic path and produce a magnetic head. In said method, the slicing direction of both the core blocks 21, 22 and the forming direction of the track width regulating grooves 6, 11 are shifted by a required angle, e.g. about 3. Since both the directions are shifted, glass filling the grooves 6, 11 is not exposed to the sticking part of the back core, so that the magnetic path coupling area of both the back cores can be sufficiently secured. Consequently, the excellent electromagnetic conversion characteristics reduced at its dispersion can be obtained.
