Fuel injection device, especially a unit fuel injector, for internal combustion engines, in which a pump chamber (4) of a pump piston (1), preferably driven by way of a cam (13), is defined by an intermediate piston (5), which on the other side defines a delivery chamber (6), from which a delivery duct (7) leading to the injection aperture (9) opening into the engine cylinder branches off, the intermediate piston (5) being loaded by a control spring (29) acting in the direction of the pump piston (1) and the fuel being fed by way of a metering line (17) of a low pressure system, in which line a solenoid valve (19) is arranged, and the delivery quantity being controlled in that, during the first part of the suction stroke of the pump piston (1), fuel flows into the pump chamber (4) in the form of rotational angle metering, the intermediate piston (5), displaced upwards, connects a metering duct (32) to the metering line (17) until the solenoid valve (19) has closed and in that the metered injection quantity into the delivery chamber (6) is timed by the solenoid valve (19). <IMAGE>
