1,233,627. Sectional boilers. SOC. GENERALE DE FONDERIE. 26 Feb., 1969 [27 Feb., 1968], No. 10367/69. Heading F4A. In a sectional boiler comprising two halfbodies each formed by an assembly of stacked elements E, Fig. 1, the elements which are disposed opposite one another co-operating to form a section, the two half-bodies are separated from one another by at least one longitudinal member P or Q serving as both a spacing shim and an alignment guide, transverse clamping elements being disposed between the elements of any single section to apply such elements against the longitudinal member. The transverse clamping elements are in the form of tie bolts (17), 18 passing through lower feet 14 and upper feet 15 respectively. As shown, the tie bolts are preferably received in semi-cylindrical recesses formed in the feet of consecutive elements E. The elements E of each half-body are clamped together by longitudinal tie bolts 12. As shown in Fig. 10, the upper longitudinal spacing member Q 1 may be inverted, with the tie bolts 18 passing through it, and may then be provided with lifting staples. To prevent leakage of combustion gases, the space between the spacing member Q 1 and annular shoulders 42 may be filled with refractory bricks 43, glass wool or rock wool 44, 46 and sand 45. The layer 46 may be omitted. Similar arrangements for preventing leakage at the bottom of the boiler are shown in Figs. 11 and 13 (not shown). |
