PURPOSE:To uniformly illuminate a transmission type liquid crystal display element with a sufficient luminance even at a low temperature by providing a fluorescent discharge tube as the light source for irradiation, which projects light to a light guiding body, and an auxiliary lamp and sticking a reflecting film on a prescribed surface except the light diffusing transmission plate side of the light guiding body. CONSTITUTION:A light transmission body 3 is covered with a reflecting film 4 except the surface on the side of a light diffusing transmission plate 2 and notched parts 3a to which auxiliary lamps 6 are inserted. A fluorescent discharge tube 5 is inserted through the light transmission body 3 and is arranged in the center of a liquid crystal display element 1, and auxiliary lamps 6 face insides of notches 3a of the light transmission body 3 and are arranged on both sides of mouth piece parts of the fluorescent discharge tube 5. If auxiliary lamps are lit together when the luminance of the fluorescent discharge tube is reduced at a low temperature, the light of the fluorescent discharge tube and auxiliary lamps is projected to the light transmission body and is reflected on the reflecting film toward the light diffusing transmission plate, and the light is diffused by this plate to uniformly illuminate the transmission type liquid crystal display element. |
