PURPOSE:To make the whole of a device compact and simplify the internal moving mechanism by fixing a sheet and a read and erase unit where an image reading means moved back and forth or the sheet and an erasing means are unitized into one body. CONSTITUTION:An image reading means 20 is provided with an excitation light scanning means consisting of an excitation light source 21, a condenser lens 22, a rotary polygonal mirror 23 as the optical deflector which deflects an excitation light 21A passing the condenser lens 22 in the direction vertical to the surface of paper to main-scan the light 21A on a sheet 2, and mirrors 24a, 24b, and 24c which turns the optical path of the excitation light, and the excitation light 21A is main-scanned on the sheet 2 repeatedly. Since a unit 4 is carried at a certain speed in the direction of an arrow A by a unit moving means 40 in accordance with this main scanning, the scan position of the excitation light 21A is moved in the direction of the arrow A to perform subscanning, and the excitation light 21A is projected throughout the surface of the sheet 2. The moving mechanism of the whole of the device is simplified because the read and erase unit is only moved back and forth to complete switching between read and erase and subscanning.
