PURPOSE:To improve the strength of an ink receiving layer without sacrifice of recording characteristic, by employing, by employing a water soluble binder containing mixture of silanol modified polyvinyl alcohol and highly saponified polyvinyl alcohol at a specific ratio. CONSTITUTION:Silanol modified polyvinyl alcohol contained in a binder is obtained by copolymerizing vinyl monomer containing Si and vinyl acetate then saponifying it, and one which preferably has polymerization degree of 500-2500 and saponification degree of 90% or higher is employed. High saponifi cation polyvinyl alcohol is such wherein more than 99.0% of polyvinyl acetate is saponified, and preferably the polymerization degree is 500-2500. Preferably, the weight ratio of silanol modified polyvinyl alcohol to high saponification polyvinyl alcohol is in the range of 5:1-1:5. It is necessary that the quantity of two kinds of polyvinyl alcohols contained in binder is at least 20 wt.%. |
