摘要 PURPOSE:To secure a squish flow and a swirl flow simultaneously as well as to obtain such a combustion chamber as preventing a maximum tension timing lag from occurring, by installing a ceramic member with a through hole interconnecting a piston top face to a piston combustion chamber or a groovelike slit. CONSTITUTION:In a squish lip 4, there are provided with plural pieces of through holes 5 as being tilted as far as the specified angle in both circumferential and radial directions of a piston head part. And, an opening 3 of a combustion chamber 2, the squish lip 4 and these through holes 5 are all constituted of a ceramic member 11 of a separate body from a piston 1, and built in the piston 1 by a metallic screw ring 12. Accordingly, at a spot in and around a piston top dead point, an air current 7 collides with an inner wall of the combustion chamber 2 at a proper angle through these through holes 5, and a swirl flow 6 rotating even in the circumferential direction is secured simultaneously with the squish flow. And, in this piston thermally insulated with the whole combustion chamber 2 as the ceramic member 11, the inside of the combustion chamber is turned to high temperature so that a combustion period is shortened.
