A device comprises a cassette loading carriage (34) with a front opening (35), three holes (36a,36b,37) and a guide rail (38), and a base plate (40) having three reel holders (41a,41b,42) driven by motors. The loading carriage (34) has a slide mechanism which enables a vertical movement. When a large cassette is inserted into the carriage (34), a microswitch provided on the bottom (39b) is switched on and the middle reel holder (42) moves below the base plate (40) so that the large cassette can be loaded. When a small cassette is inserted, the microswitch remains off and the cassette can be held by the left two holders (41a,42).
