PURPOSE:To determine the distribution coefficient of medical goods from the result of concn. measurement and to speed up and automate the measurement by providing means for setting many sample bottles to a measuring instrument and executing dispensing, distribution equalizing, separating to two phases and sampling and permitting setting of the many sample bottles cooperatively therewith. CONSTITUTION:Water 2 and n-octanol 3 are dispensed into the sample bottle 1 contg. a drug 4 and after the liquid in the bottle 1 is stirred by ultrasonic waves, etc., at a constant temp., the sample is separated by stationary or centrifugal sepn., etc., to the two phases; an octanol phase 5 and a water phase 6. A specified amt. is then sampled from the phase 5 and is conducted to high-performance liquid chromatograph by which the concn. A0 of the medical goods in said phase is determined. A specified amt. is also sampled from the water phase 6 and is conducted to the high-performance liquid chromatograph by which the concn. AW of the medical goods in the same phase is determined. The distribution coefficient P=A0/AW is calculated from the result thereof and further the active correlation with the efficacy of the medicine is determined.
