PURPOSE:To lower the installation cost of the title apparatus by dividing one tank main body into an aeration tank of the lower part and a carrier separation tank of the upper part, taking out treated water from the carrier separation tank, and returning the carrier to the aeration tank with a screw conveyor. CONSTITUTION:Sewage 31 sent through an intake 16 is introduced into an aeration tank 12. Carriers 30 stuck with microorganism are floated in the aeration tank 12 and when blowing out air into sewage 31 through respective nozzles 18, the carriers 30 flow through sewage, which is biologically treated. Treated water is sent into a carrier separation tank 13 through a duct 19 by the aerated running water in such a state that part of carriers are incorporated therein. Treated water 32 and the carriers 30 sent into the separation tank 13 are changed in the flow direction by a partition plate 23 and the carriers 30 fall under their own weight, collected on a conveyor 21 and returned to the aeration tank 12. Treated water 32 is taken out to the outside through an overflow port 25.
