PURPOSE:To display with a short position measurement time by reading map data on the periphery of the position of a vehicle according to position measurement data on the vehicle and converting it into image data for a display screen, and displaying it together with corrected position measurement data on a possible nearby position. CONSTITUTION:A signal processing means 3 converts the map data on the periphery of the vehicle obtained from the position measurement data into map image data while using a picture element of the display screen as minimum constitution unit, and detects the position of the vehicle based upon the position measurement data in the map image data. Then, when the position of the vehicle based upon the measurement data indicates a place where the vehicle is never present, the position measurement data obtained by the means 3 is corrected by an vehicle correcting means 4 into possible presence position data. A display means 5 displays the corrected position measurement data together with the map image data obtained from the map data. Thus the data are displayed with a short position measurement time. |
