PURPOSE:To obtain a packing tape which can be tied, possessing flat surface holding properties of a band and a merit of a webbing, by a method wherein a film material is piled up by performing emboss processing by folding up the same at a predetermined width and the film is unified under a temporarily adhered state. CONSTITUTION:A high-density polyethylene film A, for example, of about 24mu in thickness extruded through an extruding machine is divided in widths of about 110mm by a slitter 1 and both sides B are folded up by folding equipment 2 so that both the sides B are confronted with each other. The folded film C is stretched about 5.4 times in the inside of a stretching oven 4 between a first stretching roll 3 and second stretching roll 5 and made into a double layer tape D in about 24mm width. Then the double-layer tape D is folded up by folding equipment 6 so that the side confronting parts turns inside, through which the double-layer tape D is made into a four-layer tape E and wound up by performing pattern embosing 8 with an emboss roll 7. As unevenness is formed extending over the whole area of the tape E to which the pattern embossing has been performed, and penetrating through each of the layers, the surface of each of the layers has distinctive features of not sliding easily. Although the tape E holds a tapelike state in normal operation, when twisting force is applied to the same like in the case of tying operation, the same is separated easily and turned into a stringy line.
