The hinges are formed of or reinforced by flexible strips, e.g. 5, and the elements are held in their folded shape either by supporting beams P engaging rabbets 4 thereon, or by means of a metal binding 13 (Fig. 5) or other peripheral ring, or by means of self-adhesive or glued-on strips engaging adjacent portions 7 of the element. In the embodiments of Figs. 7-10 the grooves 24 do not extend right through the single sheet of expanded polystyrene from which these embodiments are manufactured, whereas a number of sheets are necessary for each element of the embodiments of Figs. 1-6.
