PURPOSE:To drive movers smoothly and stably over a long period of time by two-dimensionally driving two movers without using a wire or pulley. CONSTITUTION:Coils 7a-7d are wound round parts 4b, 4c and 5b, 5c of guide members 4 and 5, respectively; and a first mover 3 as a whole is driven in the Y direction, if electric current is caused to flow through these coils. Also, magnetic circuits passing through the part 4a of said guide member 4, a second mover 9 and the part 5a of said guide member 5 are formed by permanent magnets 6a, 6b, respectively so that magnetic flux crosses coils 8a, 8b, and are driven in the X direction toward the first mover 3 integrally with said coils 8a, 8b. Thus, an optical card 1 is scanned in two-dimentional directions of X and Y.
