PURPOSE:To obtain the titled particles having uniform particle diameters, by suspending styrenic polymer small particles in water in a polymerizer, adding a monomer to the suspension and polymerizing the monomer while stirring by a agitating element and a finger baffle attached to the upper part of a rod fixed in the vicinity of an inner wall. CONSTITUTION:Styrenic polymer small particles 3 as seed particle are suspended in a polymerizer 1, a vinyl monomer mixture consisting essentially of styrene is fed from a monomer feed pipe 6, a blowing agent is fed from a blowing agent feed pipe 5 and the monomer is polymerized while stirring the suspended dispersion 2 by using both an agitating element 4a set at the center of the polymerizer 1 and an auxiliary stirring device equipped with a finger baffle 4c at the upper part of a rod 4b fixed in the vicinity of an inner wall of the polymerizer 1 to give the aimed polymer particles.
