PURPOSE:To automatically straighten a C deflection with high accuracy by judging a mode by detecting the C deflection of a strip at the outlet side and controlling the push-in amt. by calculating the set value of the push-in amt. of the work roll of a deflection straightening unit. CONSTITUTION:The photo-detection amt. on both faces of a strip 1 is detected by the sensosrs 21a, 21b of a C deflection detector 21, the detection signals 22a, 22b thereof are guided to a counting panel 23 and after instructing and recording as the C deflection amt. inputted to an arithmetic machine 24. The mode of the C deflection is judged from the signals 22a, 22b by the arithmetic machine 24, the set value of an intermesh IM is operated and its set signal is inputted to the intermesh instruction adjuster 25 for work roll 7. The C deflection is then straightened automatically and with high accuracy by controlling the intermesh amt. with the normal or reverse rotation of the driving motor 18a of an intermesh adjusting device 18.
