PURPOSE:To execute effective varnishing of a web, by a method wherein a plurality of cleaning parts, each formed with a substantially flat press surface making surface contact with a magnetic recording medium and edge parts formed at both edges of the press surface, are aligned at intervals in the direction of the width of the magnetic recording medium. CONSTITUTION:Since each cleaning part 23 has a small area and the cleaning parts are positioned at a distance therebetween to prevent formation of an air film between the cleaning part and a magnetic recording medium 2, excellent and stable contact with the magnetic recording medium 2 is created. In each cleaning part 23, an edge part 25 at the front end thereof cuts off protrusions on the surface of the magnetic recording medium 2, and a press surface 24 subsequent to the edge part squeezes with press a portion, left uncut after cutting off by the edge part 25, and a pointed corner part to smooth the surface of the magnetic recording medium 2. Moreover, the edge part 25 at a rear edge subsequent to the former edge part effectively removes the cut-off protrusions and dusts. |
