MAGNETO-RESISTANCE EFFECT TYPE MAGNETIC HEAD

PURPOSE:To avoid deterioration of the lifetime of energization of a magneto- resistance effect element by securing the coincidence between the direction of the easy magnetization axis of said effect element and that of the easy magnetization axis of a single crystal ferrite soft magnetic substance having a face [011]. CONSTITUTION:A single crystal ferrite soft magnetic substance 7 having a face [011] on its surface is used for the magnetic shielding purpose. The coincidence is secured between the direction <110> or <100> of the substance 7 and the easy magnetization axis direction of a magneto-resistance effect element 3 formed on the substance 7 via an insulated layer 6. Thus, it is possible to eliminate the magnetic interactions with which the magnetization in each ferrite crystal grain affects the magnetization in the element 3. This effect is remarkable with >=0.6mum film thickness of an insulated layer 2. In such a way, the deterioration can be avoided for the lifetime of energization of the element 3.
