PURPOSE:To pick up a video image easy to see and to reduce the cost without adding components by fitting a polarized plate in place of protection glass on the surface of a solid-state image pickup element to eliminate the irregularly reflected light component due to sun rays or the like. CONSTITUTION:A package 1 is made of a ceramic or a plastic, pellets 2 of the solid-state image pickup element is loated on the bottom and sealed by a polarized plate 3 to protect the pellets 2 of the solid-state image pickup element. The polarized plate 3 is arranged so that the direction of polarization is made equal to the horizontal scanning direction of the solid-state image pickup element of the pellet 2. Thus, the light component whose polarized plane differs from the horizontal scanning direction is attenuated or not transmitted at all, resulting in that the irregularly reflected light component is reduced.
