PURPOSE:To decrease the diameter of a rotary head cylinder device by providing a rotation side lead wire connection member on a head unit in order to secure connection between the head unit and a rotation side rotary transformer before the end of attachment of an upper rotary cylinder. CONSTITUTION:A head disk unit containing a head unit 22 fixed to a head disk 30 is attached to a lower cylinder unit containing an assembly consisting of a spindle 23, a bearing 24, a disk 29, a rotation side rotary transformer 25, a fixed side rotary transformer 26 and a lower cylinder 20. Then a rotation side rotary transformer lead wire 28 led from the transformer 25 is connected to a head terminal attached to the unit 22. An upper rotary cylinder 21 is fixed onto the disk 30 to secure the electrical connection between a rotary head and the transformer 25 before attachment of the cylinder 21. In such a constitution, a compact rotary head cylinder device is obtained.
