PURPOSE:To simplify the heat treatment stage and to increase the working efficiency by projection-welding a ball and a rod held with electrodes and afterward, cooling a weld zone in a state as these are and then, allowing a current to flow between the electrodes to temper the weld zone. CONSTITUTION:The ball 35 is held with a ball holder 33 formed of conductive metal and the rod 41 is abutted on the lower part of the ball 35. In this state, the voltage is impressed on between the ball holder 33 and a rod holder 43 to perform the projection welding. The weld zone is cooled and then, the current is again allowed to flow between the electrodes to temper the weld zone. By this method, the working efficiency is increased.
