PURPOSE:To detect the step-out of a pulse motor for moving a cartridge simply, by a method wherein the value of count of driving pulse, generated in the pulse interval of carriage movement detecting pulses, is compared with a reference value. CONSTITUTION:An edge detecting pulse generating circuit 11 detects at least one edge of slits, arranged along the traveling passageway of a carriage at a given interval, upon the movement of the carriage and generates a pulse (b). A counter 12 is cleared by the edge detecting pulse (b) and, thereafter, counts a driving pulse signal (c) and the value of count of the counter 12 is latched by a comparison circuit 13 by next edge detecting pulse (b), then, the counter is cleared at next instance and starts next counting. On the other hand, the comparison circuit 13 compares the value of count, latched by the circuit 13, with a preset reference value. |
