PURPOSE:To minimize the generation of a flaw and to effect abrasion of the generated flaw for removal, by a method wherein a spiral press part is formed on the outer peripheral surface of a packing roller, the packing roller is rotated, and a polishing tape is forced into pressure contact with a magnetic tape by means of the press part. CONSTITUTION:By rotating a packing roller 5 to force a polishing tape 8 into pressure contact with the surface of a magnetic disc 1 by means of the press part of the roller during rotation of the roller, polishing of the disc 1 surface is performed. The press part of the packing roller 5 is formed in a spiral manner, and since the roller is under rotation, a contact portion between the polishing tape 8 and the roller 5 is moved in the radial direction of the disc 1 along with rotation of the roller 5. Along with the movement, a position allowing the polishing tape 8 to be brought into pressure contact with the disc 1 surface is also moved radially of the disc 1. Thus, foreign matters 12 and 13 nipped between the the polishing tape 8 and the disc 1 and between the polishing tape 8 and the roller 5 during polishing are both moved radially of the disc 1 along with movement of a pressure contact portion for removal. |
