PURPOSE:To attain countermeasures to line fault in advance by supervising the line state, storing the result of supervision in a memory and displaying the result of supervision. CONSTITUTION:A line switch 1 is provided with a parity check circuit 3 to fetch the data from each communication line and to apply parity check, a program check circuit 4, a level check circuit 5, and an error counter circuit 6 and a control section 12 controlling them and a memory 7 storing the content processed by each circuit in a form of a line monitor 2. The state of monitoring by the line monitor 2 is displayed on a display section 11 provided at the outside of the line switch 1. Since an information processing unit 14A recognizes an error or fault of a communication line 9A, if a fault takes place, whether it comes from the device or the line is identified.
