PURPOSE:To enhance a color-forming density and improve a shelf stability with time, by a method wherein a recording layer containing an electron donative colorless dye and a specific benzoate having hydroxyl group, which is an electron accepting compound, is provided on a substrate. CONSTITUTION:A coating liquid is prepared by dispersing an electron donative colorless dye and a benzoate having hydroxyl group as an electron accepting compound, wherein the residue of alcohol portion forming ester linkage has ester linkage, in a binder such as styrene-butadiene latex. This coating liquid is coated on a substrate such as a plastic sheet and resin coated paper; in this manner, a recording layer is formed and then a recording material is produced. As the aforesaid electron accepting compound, a compound shown by formula I (R1-V6 represent H, alkyl this group, and others, (n) represents an integer of 0, 1-2, and X represents 0, S) is preferably used. |
