PURPOSE:To surely prevent dry cell from undergoing fault charge by detecting the presence or amount of reflected light, which is caused by reflection of light emitted from an illuminant allocated on a charging circuit toward a cell mounted on an installation part, at a light receiver to discriminate between rechargeable cell and dry cell. CONSTITUTION:The light emitted from an illuminant 14 is reflected by a light reflector 20. When the reflected light is detected by a light receiver 15, a charging circuit is arranged to be driven by the detected output, and the light reflector 20 is installed in a position deviated forward or backward from the center in axial direction of a rechargeable cell B. By the arrangement, the directional sensitivity of the rechargeable cell B is indicated at the installed position of light reflector 20, and accordingly, if the rechargeable cell B is adversely set facing the rear side in place of the front side on an installation part 3, the light emitted from the illuminant 14 is not reflected by a dry cell having no light reflector 20. Therefore, no light is received at the light receiver 15 and the charging circuit is not driven, and no charging current flows in dry cell. |
