PURPOSE:To reduce possibility falling in a word step-out state due to line error, by providing a protection step setting circuit, and switching the ratio of protection step corresponding to word step out. CONSTITUTION:An mBnB code reception signal string is inputted to a shift register A, and is developed to a parallel signal of n-bits by a D-FFB. The parallel signal is inputted to a ROMC, and a parallel signal of m-bits is inputted to a shift register D. An mBnB code decoding signal string is outputted from the shift register D. Counter F and G are provided to investigate the frequency of the generation of the violation of a code rule. Also, protection step setting circuits l and J are provided, and the ratio of the protection step of the protection steps P and R corresponding to the word step out.
