PURPOSE:To offer an unexperienced operator a graphic input device which is easy to handle by forming an input parameter required to input a graphic based on the classification and the schematic form of the graphics. CONSTITUTION:When the operator specifies the classification of the input graphic from the matrix indication of a CRT indicator 13 by the input device 10, an input graphic selection mechanism 14 sets a graphic classification flag used in a graphic approximate data producing mechanism 16. Then by operating a mouse and moving a cursor, the schema of the graphic which is desired to be input is plotted. At this time, a graphic schematic form input mechanism 15 moves the cursor coping with the input from the cursor key/the mouse and generates a line part which connects the specified points. Then, when the operator pushes an execution key on the device 10, the mechanism 16 produces a graphic approximate data based on the finger classification flag set by the mechanism 14 and a specified point table set by the mechanism 15. As the schema of the graphic input parameter is obtained by such an easy input operation, the unexperienced operator can easily operate the device.
