PURPOSE:To make an easy-to-see in-finder display at all times by controlling the brightness level of a light emitting element according to brightness information on the peripheral area of a subject field. CONSTITUTION:The outputs of photodiodes 29c-29f are A/D-converted corresponding to the peripheral area of the subject field and the mean value is found. A microcomputer #2 outputs brightness modulation signals OP2a-OP2c to a waveform output circuit OSC according to the level. Consequently, the circuit OSC outputs a waveform with a duty ratio corresponding to the mean value of the brightness information to turn on LEDs 14a-14d for exposure information lighting and an LED 14c for focusing decision making. Therefore, whatever composition a subject is put in, the in-finder display can be made easy to see at all times.
