PURPOSE:To produce the title noncolored polymer, by mixing a propylene polymer containing catalyst residues with a specified phosphite compound, a specified antioxidant, a radical generator and a crosslinking aid and melt-kneading the mixture. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. propylene polymer containing 5ppm or above Ti of a catalyst residue or 0.5ppm or above V of a catalyst residue is mixed with 0.01-1pt.wt. phosphite compound of formula I wherein R1 is H, a 1-3C alkyl, a group of formula II [wherein R4 is a group of formula III (wherein R5 is an 8-18C alkyl)], R2 and R3 are each a 1-8C alkyl (e.g., 4,4'-butylidenebis(3- methyl-6-t-butylphenyl)ditridecyl phosphite), 0.01-1pt.wt. thio ether antioxidant (e.g., dimyristyl thiodipropionate), 0.005-5pts.wt. radical generator and 0.1-20 pts.wt. crosslinking aid, and the mixture is melt-kneaded at 150-300 deg.C. A nonclosed crosslinked propylene polymer excellent in thermal and oxidative degradation resistance during melt kneading and heat stability in actual use can be obtained.
