PURPOSE:To miniaturize a device, to make it have a large capacity, and to improve the reliability of data by recording magnetic head positioning information in at least one face of all of plural magnetic recording mediums. CONSTITUTION:At the time of executing write and read-out of data, magnetic head H1 is positioned on a data cylinder (n) by reading out magnetic head positioning information recorded in a magnetic recording medium D1 by the magnetic head H1 and executing a positioning control, and a magnetic head H2 can be suppressed to a small positioning error of only an inclined portion by placing the magnetic recording medium D1 between. In the same way, a magnetic head H3 and H4 are positioned by reading out magnetic head positioning information on a magnetic recording medium D2, and thereafter, H5 and H6, and H7 and H8 are brought to a positioning control by the respective magnetic head positioning information on D3, and D4, respectively, by which a positioning error can be obviated or can be suppressed very small.
