PURPOSE:To more accurately execute image area adjustment and image density adjustment by executing correction scanning for correcting the sensitivity of optical sensors, storing the optical sensor generating an abnormal output in a storage means as the result of the correction scanning and invalidating the use of data in the optical sensor generating the abnormal output. CONSTITUTION:Correction scanning for correcting the sensitivity of the optical sensors S1-Sn, the optical sensor generating an abnormal output is stored in a storage means (RAM 19) and the use of data in the optical sensor generating the abnormal output is invalidated. Even if the sensitivity of the optical sensors S1-Sn is dispersed, the dispersion can be corrected by executing the correction scanning for entering correction data for correcting the sensitivity of the optical sensors S1-Sn. The optical sensor having extremely abnormal data is stored in the storage means 19 and the use of the data is inhibited, so that image area adjustment and image density adjustment can be accurately executed.
