<p>Bands for marking pipes, in engines such as aviation engines, are of 25 mm. width and may be of (a) polyester for use at 50 - 130 degrees C, (b) 0.08 mm. thick Al for use at 80 - 250 degrees C or (c) 0.05 mm. thick stainless steel for use at 80 - 400 degrees C (is not >700 degrees C). These materials are readily coated with marking materials, pref. epoxide resins coloured with mineral pigments for (a), or with silicone resins, methyl phenyl silane resins coloured with ceramic pigments for (b) and (c). They are resistant to shock, vibration, chemical attack from salt, aviation fuel, etc.</p> |
