PURPOSE:To display a sub-picture in an optional position a user desires by moving the displaying position of the sub-picture upward, downward, left or right or in the combined direction of them by the key operation of an operating means. CONSTITUTION:A data, processed by a sub-controlling part 44, is supplied to a sub-picture control circuit 45, and a signal to change the position of the sub- picture is generated here, and sent to a memory control circuit 26. The displaying position of the sub-picture is determined by counting the number of pulses of a vertical and a horizontal synchronizing signal by the memory control circuit 26, and an instruction such as upward UP, downward DW, etc. is issued by the operation of the operating part 34, and the count set value of the vertical or the horizontal synchronizing signal pulse counted by the memory circuit 26 is successively changed based on the operation of a main controlling part 41 and the sub-controlling part 44. Thus, the user can display the sub-picture in the optional position through the key operation.
