A golf club head has a front face, bottom and top surfaces, and a keel (30) extending generally forwardly at the bottom of the head. The keel has a forwardmost surface (61) sloping upwardly and forwardly from the bottom of the keel, to intersect the front face at a lateral linear location substantially above the bottom level of the keel, whereby the keel sloping surface on striking the ground during a golf swing will transfer some force upwardly toward the head. <IMAGE> |
