PURPOSE:To produce a Ti coated metal wire having superior corrosion and chemical resistances by coating the surface of a fine wire of a metal having superior drawability with Ti by a vacuum deposition method. CONSTITUTION:Fe, Cu, Al or an alloy of such metals is drawn into a fine wire of <=300mum diameter and the surface of the fine wire is coated with a vacuum-deposited film of Ti having superior corrosion and chemical resistances by a vacuum deposition method such as CVD, plasma CVD, ion plating or sputtering. Ti itself is difficult to work into a fine wire of <=300mum diameter. By this method, a fine metal wire of <=300mum diameter having superior corrosion and chemical resistances and used to produce a filter for chemicals, a wire gauze for filtering seawater or the like is easily obtd.
