PURPOSE:To shorten the assembling time of the parts of a heat exchanger and facilitate the automation of assembling work, by a method wherein the heat exchanger is constituted of only flat plates, made of an aluminum brazing sheet equipped with tongue-shape fins, spacers and side bars. CONSTITUTION:A heat exchanger 1 is constituted of a plurality of flat plates 10, made of aluminum and arranged in up-and-down direction with predetermined intervals, while oil passageways 2 and air passageways 3 are provided alternate ly through the flat plates 10. The flat plate 10 is constituted of an aluminum brazing sheet, cladded with a brazing material 11 on the surface faced to the oil passageway 2. The surface of the flat plate 10, which faces the air passage way 3, is provided with a plurality of rows 12 of fins, consisting of a plurality of tongue-shape fins 13 formed so as to be cut-and-raised type in fore-and-aft direction with predetermined intervals. The flat plates 10, spacers 14 and side bars 18 are arranged so as to be superposed and all parts are brazed simultane ously through vacuum brazing method whereby the heat exchanger 1 is manufac tured.
