PURPOSE:To eliminate necessity for ensuring an excessive memory capacity other than a collection memory, by adding a space data as a pitch information to a memory print data in the collection memory in order to reset a print head to a newest input position prior to correction printing after correction printing is carried out. CONSTITUTION:CPU 18 annuls an input print data if it is a space code and adds a pitch information associated with the space code into a correction memory 28. A position register 29 for storing corresponding print data being stored at a head position is provided, and when the print data is shifted out, corresponding pitch information is added in the position register 29 so as to update the information. Correcting operation is carried out by a signal inputted through a correction key on a keyboard. Information in the correction memory 28 is added to data in the position register 29 based on a signal inputted through a relocation key, so as to index the newest input position thus driving a carriage drive motor 12 until a head counter in a work memory 27 is aligned with the newest input position.
