PURPOSE:To form a curved surface on a workpiece in a highly accurate manner, by attaching a piezoelectric element to one end of the underside of a plate and the workpiece to the other end, respectively, while setting up the workpiece on a rotating abrasive surface plate, and varying voltage to be impressed on the said piezoelectric element. CONSTITUTION:A plate 12, where a reciprocating workpiece 10 is clamped, is set up on a rotating abrasive surface plate 18, and an impressed voltage is continuously varied whereby a piezoelectric element 14 is expanded or contracted, and a curved surface of the workpiece 10 is formed with free abrasive grains or fixed abrasive grains in a way of synchronizing reciprocation to be shown in an arrow 32 with the continuous expansion of the piezoelectric element 14. A radius of curvature in this curved surface is alterable by adjustment with the voltage that impresses a distance between the piezoelectric element 14 and the workpiece 10, or a difference in a projecting quantity of the piezoelectric element 14 from the plate 12 on the piezoelectric element 14. |
