PURPOSE:To obtain a rod having a non-circular part, wherein a forming base material is pushed in along a notch, by a method wherein the forming base material is wound round a mandrel having a notch with has a nearly flat surface and, after that, the mandrel is bound with a tape under the condition that a holding jig fitting to the notched part is joined from above the forming base material. CONSTITUTION:A forming base material 3 is wound onto the outer peripheral surface of a mandrel 1. The forming base material 3 is woven cloth, sheet, or mat made of inorganic fibers or organic fibers impregnated with phenol resin, polyster resin, epoxy resin or the like. The forming base material is cut into a prescribed shape and wound on the mandrel. A holding jig 4 having a shape to be able to fit to a notched part 2 is joined onto the forming base material 3. Under the condition just mentioned above, tightening tape 5 such as cellophane tape, polyester tape or the like is wound round the mandrel so as to tightly clamp the forming base material 3 along the outer surface of the mandrel 1. After the clamping with the tape is completed, it is put in a baking oven and baked. After the baking, the material 1 is drawn out and the tape 5 on the surface of a fabricated tubular body is peeled off and removed. Finally, by dismounting the holding jig 4 from the body, a rod 7, in which a nearly flat surface 6 is formed integrally, is completed.
