PURPOSE:To obtain a retrieval result with high quality for any retrieval person without checking of a thesaurus to find out a word or word finding through the cut and try retrieval by providing a retreival equation expanding means incorporating a relevant word read out of a relevant word dictionary into the original retrieval equation to reconstruct the retrieval equation. CONSTITUTION:A retrieval equation decomposing means 2 reading a retrieval equation 1 where plural retrieval words are combined into a prescribed significance by Boolean algebra using AND and OR and decomposing and extracting the retrieval equation 1 into Boolean algebra and the retrieval words, a relevant word dictionary 4 storing the synonym and relevant word of the retrieval words decomposed by the retrieval equation decomposing means 2, a dictionary check means 3 checking the presence of each relevant word of the retrieval words in the relevant word dictionary 4 and the retrieval equation expanding means 5 incorporating the relevant word read out of the relevant word dictionary 4 into the original retrieval equation to reconstruct the retrieval equation, are provided. Then the relevant word of the retrieval words written in the retrieval equation is loaded automatically into the original equation. Thus, the result with high retrieval quality is obtained.
