PURPOSE:To prepare a highly active supported titanium ingredient economically, by reacting a magnesium halide carrier with a titanium halide, of a limited amt. to thereby reduce the amt. of titanium tetrachloride as compared with the case of using a conventional supported titanium ingredient. CONSTITUTION:A highly active supported titanium ingredient is formed by reacting a carrier A with a titanium halide by the following process; (1) The carrier A is prepared so that is contains magnesium, a halogen and an electron donor compound as essential ingredients. (2) The amt. of the titanium halide used in the process of contacting the carrier A with the titanium halide in a hydrocarbon solvent or a halogenated hydrocarbon solvent is limited as follows: 1g of the carrier A is reacted with 20ml of a titanium halide under heating at 80 deg.C for 2hr, and then washed with a large amt. of n-heptane, so that 0.3-5 times the amt. of titanium halide is used in terms of the amt. of the supported titanium halide.
