PURPOSE:To surely protect transfer data and at the same time to omit a troublesome lock releasing job by locking automatically a joint part just for a period when access is given to an external storage device. CONSTITUTION:A memory pack MPK incorporating a memory element is used as an external storage device and a lock means which is driven by a plunger 5 is used to prevent a trouble where the pack MPK is loaded and unloaded at a point between the device main body and the pack MPK. That is, a groove 4 having a triangular section is formed on the upper surface of a case of the pack MPK at an end part of the case. A latch 3 having the same section shape can be set into the groove 4. The lock means locks a joint part via a plunger 5 in an access mode to the pack MPK. Thus the pack MPK is never pulled out to prevent such a trouble where data is broken or the device has a trouble by an inadvertent extraction of the pack MPK.
