PURPOSE:To perform a recording task without disordering the correct array of signals by reproducing the recorded digital signals to detect errors and feeding a recording medium intermittently by a degree equivalent to a single track only when said digital signals are recorded in a correct way. CONSTITUTION:When a rotary head 3 has a single revolution and touches a magnetic tape, a recording/reproducing switching circuit 20 is changed to a reproduction mode. Thus the tracks recorded previously on the tape are reproduced by a rotary head 2. At the same time, the errors are detected by an error detecting means 22. If no error is detected, a stepping motor 14 is turned at a prescribed angle to feed intermittently the tape by a degree equal to a single track. If an error is detected, the recording and reproducing actions are repeated until no error is detected. Then the magnetic tape is fed intermittently by a degree equal to a single track.
