PURPOSE:To prevent ultraviolet rays during normal operation from entering for assuring memory details for a long time by a method wherein a photoirradiating window is covered with an intermediate part of a covering body mounted on a package main body to shield incident light to an EPROM chip. CONSTITUTION:Engagement parts 14 engaged with the bottom surface 13 of a package main body 2 are formed on both ends of a covering body 10 while the intermediate part 15 between the engagement parts 14 is formed into a plane along the surface 3 of main body 2. The covering body 10 is slidden in the direction A to cover the main body 2 for shielding a photo irradiating window 4 with the intermediate part 15. When the terminals 11 of main body 2 are inserted into sockets 8, the covering body 10 is held by protrusions 16. Resultantly, relative positions of covering body 10 and the main body 2 can be kept constant to maintain the state of photoirradiating window 4 shielded with the intermediate part 15.
