PURPOSE:To accurately move a welding torch along a weld line by dividing a weaving period into two areas to compare the size of the areas and substracting for the prescribed time of the area from the larger one and comparing the size of the areas to compensate the movement of the torch according to a prescribed correction function. CONSTITUTION:An arc current detected for every half-period of the weaving is integrated with the time by an area calculation means 1 and two areas for every 1/4 period are calculated. Then, the size of the two areas is compared by a first area comparison and discrimination means 2 and first area with a larger value is discriminated from a second area with a smaller value. Further, the size between a first corrected area which is subtracted for the prescribed time of the first area edge from the first area and the second area is compared and discriminated by a second area comparison and discrimination means 3. Then, when first corrected area is larger than the second area, a reference value is corrected with the correction function by a movement compensation means 4 to correct the movement of the welding torch.
