PURPOSE:To obtain an optical fiber cord having superior characteristic of thermal resistance, chemical resistance and flame resistance by forming an external clad layer comprising fluorine-contg. resin contg. potassium titanate. CONSTITUTION:An external clad layer 18 of a heat resistant optical fiber cord is formed of fluorine-contg. resin contg. potassium titanate. Similar effect may be obtd. if potassium hexatitanate fiber, potassium dititanate fiber, or potassium tetratitanate fiber, etc. is used in the external clad layer 18. Since the external clad layer 18 is formed, as described above, of fluorine-contg. resin contg. potassium titanate fiber, the coefft. of linear expansion of the external clad layer 18 can be held at a small value. By this constitution, a heat resistant optical fiber cord having superior characteristic of thermal resistance, chemical resistance, and flame resistance is obtd. |
