PURPOSE:To prevent an erroneous data from being recorded, by replacing a data substantially via a processing circuit by an input signal corresponding to a decided result, in response to the decided result of a flag representing the error correction status of the input signal. CONSTITUTION:A decision circuit 3 decides the flag with respect to a sub code of two blocks stored in a memory 9 via a signal processing circuit 8. A block data having meaningful information possible to be corrected is stored in a memory 6, and the block address of information stored in the memory 9 is stored in a memory 7, and when it is decided that the data is the one impossible to be corrected as the decided result, the data of the memory 9 is replaced by that of the memory 6. And, the data stored in the memory 9 is read out in order at need, and is recorded on a magnetic tape, therefore, no sub code impossible to be corrected is recorded, and the malfunction can be prevented from being generated.
