PURPOSE:To enhance the adsorbing capacity of a metal by a filter material and to also properly perform the replacement of said filter material, by a method wherein the metal-containing sewage discharged from the oral cavity of a patient is drained through the replaceable metal adsorbing filter material of a filter apparatus after a definite amount of said sewage is accumulated. CONSTITUTION:When the sewage in the oral cavity sucked up along with air from nozzles 6, 7 by the continuation of dental remedy and temporarily accumulated in a storage vessel 10 reaches a preset definite amount, a level switch 8 is turned ON to operate a timer 19, a relay 20 and a counter 22. Hereupon, a blower 25 is stopped and the motor 21 of an opening and closing valve 16 is operated on a valve opening side to guide the liquid accumulated in the temporary storage vessel 10 into an U-shaped tubular filter apparatus 13. In this case, since the liquid in the storage vessel 10 is in such a state that a heavy metal is sedimented, the heavy metal is adsorbed in a relatively efficient manner by the metal adsorbing filter material 16 such as the chelating resin in the filter apparatus 13. The frequency of this operation is counted by the counter 22.
